How long is the exam and what does it cover?

The LCACP exam is a closed-book 3.5-hour multiple choice exam in English. There are 184 questions. The examination covers General LCA knowledge, ISO standards, LCI, LCIA, Project management, Data quality management, Post-impact calculations, LCA modeling/software, Statistics, Ethics, and Emerging issues.

Where can I take the exam?

The proctored exam is available online and can be taken anywhere in the world at your convenience. The exam can also be taken in-person during ACLCA’s Annual Conference.

How do I maintain my LCACP Certification?

Maintain active ACLCA membership, complete required CEUs through approved activities, and submit renewal documentation every three years.

Recertification
The LCACP certification requires renewal at three-year intervals. During those three years, LCACPs must earn continuing education units (CEUs) following the recertification policy.

There are many opportunities to receive continuing education (CE) (e.g., including LCA Courses, conferences, registered ACLCA webinars, and LCA Annual Conference) all of which are outlined in the Certification Renewal Guidelines.

What happens if I miss the recertification deadline?

While there is a one-month grace period after your certification expiration date, no certification renewal materials will be accepted after this grace period ends. If you fail to recertify on time, your certification will lapse, and you'll need to retake and pass the LCACP examination to become certified again.

How do I document my CEU credits?

You must track your own CEU activities using the CEU Reporting Form, which lists each activity's date, title, sponsor, and category. While you don't need to submit documentation with your form, you should maintain records for two years after your certification cycle ends, as ACLCA conducts annual audits of a sample of recertifying professionals.
