The ACLCA 2020 Conference brings together the most innovative thinkers and leaders in life cycle assessment, life cycle thinking, and sustainability. Our conference program covers a wide variety of diverse and timely topics relevant to life cycle thinking and appropriate for many professional disciplines and stakeholders from industry, academia, government, consulting NGOs, and students.

ACLCA 2020 Conference has unique opportunities for organizations and individuals to present the latest research, new tools, and resources, share their successes and inform the LCA community of their latest innovations.


Pre-Conference Workshops 

Host a pre-conference workshop on Monday, September 21, 2020, the day before the start of the ACLCA 2020 conference in Madison, WI. The workshop can be anywhere from 1½ hours - 3 hours in length. Teachers of successful workshops  (i.e. more than 8 registrants) will receive complimentary entry to this year’s ACLCA 2020 conference (transportation to conference and lodging not provided).  Applications are due by June 10, 2020.  All pre-conference workshop presenters will be notified by June 22, 2020.

Presentations and Posters 

All abstract presentations will be made in either poster or oral presentation format. Abstract authors are asked to indicate a preference for poster versus oral presentation but conference organizers will assign the final format. Abstract submissions are due by June 10, 2020.  Presentations and Poster Submitters Notified by June 22, 2020.

Students are offered the opportunity to participate in our annual Student Poster Contest. This contest is offered only to currently enrolled students. Any student may enter by submitting an abstract through our submission process.  PLEASE NOTE: Students submitting abstracts to be considered for the Student Poster Contest, please be sure to check the box on the ConfTool submission.  Send any questions to

Special Sessions 

Special sessions should NOT replicate existing ACLCA 2020 session formats (i.e., paper presentations and poster sessions). They are scheduled in standard conference spaces. Within these constraints, the form is yours to design. Special Session submission comprise of (usually up to) 3 or 4 speakers and a moderator. These sessions are more interactive than abstract presentations and can take on a number of formats including, but not limited to experts' discussion plus Audience Q&A​; a rapid-fire sequence of five-minute talks, or a hands-on demo.
